COURSE OUTLINE
Students who are enrolled in a course will find everything they need on their course page. All class sessions will take place in WiZiQ. There will be two class sessions per week and students are required to attend both sessions. Links to class sessions will be available on the course page, and students will also receive email invitations and reminders.
All classes are taught by the senior scholars, and are translated into English, alhamdulillaah. Students are required to take notes during lectures. Students are not allowed to record lectures.
Teaching assistants are here for you! Three or more TAs are assigned to each course to assist students with assignments and course information. TA responsibilities include grading assignments, quizzes, team projects, answering students’ questions, monitoring students’ progress, and alerting them of upcoming deadlines. TAs will also lead review sessions at the end of the course to help students prepare for the final exam.
Attendance is mandatory each week. All enrolled students must be logged into one WiZiQ session each week to receive credit for attendance. A student who misses a class must contact the TA.
All OIC lectures may be broadcast in Masaajid or other gatherings of knowledge so others may benefit. However, only enrolled students can submit assignments and receive prizes. If you would like to broadcast any of the OIC lectures please contact oic.albaseerah@gmail.com prior to doing so.
The actual class sessions are usually between 1–2 hours, and there is only one required session per week. As for completing assignments and studying, we suggest students spend between 3–5 hours per week.
Each class will have a variety of assignments including answering open-ended questions, creating graphic organizers, and creating PowerPoint presentations. Detailed information about all assignments, deadlines, and grade distribution is included in course syllabus which will be available on the course page before the class begins. Most assignments will be open-notes.
Each course may have a few online quizzes. Students must study material each week to prepare for the scheduled quiz. Quizzes are timed, and closed-notes. Links to quizzes will be available on the course page.
Courses may require students to work in teams to collaborate on a project. A project may include a paper, PowerPoint presentation, or a worksheet. It is the student’s responsibility to set up meeting times with team members and coordinate project. Sisters will only work with other sisters, and brothers will work with only brothers.
For each course we plan to hold at least one live question/answer session with the Shaykh. OIC students will be allowed to post their course-related questions.
A final exam will be given at the end of the course. The exam will be online and it will be closed-notes. The exam is only part of the final grade.
All enrolled students will receive an official certificate of participation.
The top fifteen students will receive a certificate of excellence along with prizes. Students must meet the following criteria for class rank and overall grade to receive the prize.
