(Aali Imran 3:103)

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allaah (i.e. this Qur'aan), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allaah's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islaamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allaah makes His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided. (Aali `Imraan 3:103)

Al Baqarah and Aali `Imraan

An-Nawwas bin Sam`an (May Allaah be pleased with him) reported: "I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) saying, "The Qur'aan and its people who applied it, will be brought on the Day of Resurrection preceded with Surat Al-Baqarah and Surat Aal-`Imraan arguing on behalf of those who applied them.'' [Muslim]

Al-Baqarah 2:121

Those (who embraced Islaam from Banee Israa'eel) to whom We gave the Book [the Tauraat (Torah)] [or those (Muhammad's Peace be upon him companions) to whom We have given the Book (the Qur'aan)] recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), they are the ones that believe therein. And whoso disbelieves in it (the Qur'aan), those are they who are the losers.  (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

An Intercessor

Abu Umamah (May Allaah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) saying, "Read the Qur'aan, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection. [Muslim]

be with the righteous scribes

Aa`ishah narrated that the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi was-sallam) said, "Such a person as recites the Qur'aan and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the quran by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward." [al-Bukhaaree]

best of you

`Uthman bin `Affan (May Allaah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'aan and teaches it.''  [Al-Bukhaaree]

Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari (May Allaah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "The believer who recites the Qur'aan is like a citron whose fragrance is sweet and whose taste is delicious. A believer who does not recite the Qur'aan is like a date-fruit which has no fragrance but has a sweet taste. The hypocrite who recites the Qur'aan is like a colocynth whose fragrance is so sweet, but its taste is bitter. The hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'aan is like basil which has no fragrance and its taste is bitter.''  [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim].

each letter is ten rewards

The Prophet (Sallallahu `alayhi was-sallam) said: “Whoever reads one letter of the Book of Allaah will have one hasanah (reward) for doing so, and every hasanah will be multiplied by 10. I do not say that ‘alif, laam, meem’ is one letter, but ‘alif’ is a letter, ‘laam’ is a letter and ‘meem’ is a letter.’” [at-Tirmidhee - classed as hasan]

elevated or abased

`Umar bin Al-Khattaab (May Allaah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "Verily, Allaah elevates some people with this Qur'aan and abases others.'' [Muslim]

envy is justified

Ibn `Umar (May Allaah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Envy is justified in regard to two types of persons only: a man whom Allaah has given knowledge of the Qur'aan, and so he recites it during the night and during the day; and a man whom Allaah has given wealth and so he spends from it during the night and during the day.''  [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]

No poverty after Paradise and no wealth in the Fire

It is reported that Jundub b. `Abdillaah Al-Bajalee – Allaah be pleased with him – was once asked for advice and instruction. He said: "I advise you to fear Allaah and obey Him (taqwaa) and I advise you to adhere to the Qur'aan, for it is a light in the dark night and a guidance during the day, so implement it no matter how much struggle and poverty you have to face. If a calamity befalls you, put your wealth forward to protect your religion, and if the calamity continues, put forward your wealth and your life to save your religion [but never risk your religion], for the ruined is he whose religion is ruined, and the looted is he whose religion is taken. And know that there is no poverty after Paradise, and no riches after the Fire. [Al-Dhahabee, Siyar A’laam Al-Nubalaa` 3:174.]

Not acting on the Qur'aan

Samura ibn Jundab narrated that the Prophet (sallaallaahu `alayhi was-sallam) said in his narration of a dream that he saw, "He whose head was being crushed with a stone was one who learnt the Qur'aan but never acted on it, and slept ignoring the compulsory prayers." [Al-Bukhaaree]

peace descends

Narrated Al-Bara' bin 'Azib: A man recited Surat-al-Kahf (in his prayer) and in the house there was a (riding) animal which got frightened and started jumping. The man finished his prayer with Taslim, but behold! A mist or a cloud hovered over him. He informed the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi was-sallam) of that and the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi was-sallam) said, "O so-and-so! Recite, for this (mist or cloud) was a sign of peace descending for the recitation of Qur'aan."  [Al-Bukhaaree]

recite and ascend

`Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`As (May Allaah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "The one who was devoted to the the Qur'aan will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Aayah you recite.'''   [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Reciting with difficulty

‘Aa’ishah, (may Allaah be pleased with her) relates that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Verily the one who recites the Qur’aan beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have twice that reward.” [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]

review review

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلّم said, "Keep on reciting the Qur'aan, for, by Him in Whose Hand my life is, Qur'aan runs away (is forgotten) faster than camels that are released from their tying ropes." [Al-Bukhaaree] (Book of the Virtues of the Qur'aan)

Surah Al Hajj 54

And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it (this Qur'aan) is the truth from your Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may submit to it with humility. And verily, Allaah is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Path. (Al-Hajj 22:54)

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:2

{This is the Book (the Qur'aan), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allaah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allaah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].} [Al-Baqarah 2:2]

Surah Al-Hashr 59:21

{Had We sent down this Qur'aan on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rent asunder by the fear of Allaah. Such are the parables which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect.} [Al-Hashr 59:21]

Surah Al-Israa' 17:88,89

{Say: "If the mankind and the jinn were together to produce the like of this Qur'aan, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another." ~ And indeed We have fully explained to mankind, in this Qur'aan, every kind of similitude, but most of mankind refuse (the truth and accept nothing) but disbelief.}  [Al-Israa' 17:88,89]

Surah Anfal :2

The believers are only those who, when Allaah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'aan) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone); (Al-Anfal 8:2)

Surah Qaf 50:37

Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful. [Qaf 50:37]

Surah Yunus 10:37

{And this Qur'aan is not such as could ever be produced by other than Allaah (Lord of the heavens and the earth), but it is a confirmation of (the revelation) which was before it [i.e. the Tauraat (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel)], and a full explanation of the Book (i.e. laws decreed for mankind) - wherein there is no doubt from the the Lord of the 'Alameen (mankind, jinn, and all that exists).} [Yunus 10:37]

Surah yunus 10:57

O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e. the Qur'aan, ordering all that is good and forbidding all that is evil), and a healing for that (disease of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy and differences, etc.) in your breasts, - a guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful and unlawful things, etc.) for the believers. (Yunus 10:57)

Surah Zumar:23

Allaah has sent down the best statement, a Book (this Qur'aan), its parts resembling each other in goodness and truth, oft-repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (when they recite it or hear it). Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allaah. That is the guidance of Allaah. He Guides therewith whom He pleases and whomever Allaah sends astray, for him there is no guide. (Surah Az-Zumar 39:23)

Umm of the Qur'aan

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: Allaah's Apostle (Sallallaahu`alayhi was-sallam) said, "The Umm of the Qur'aan is the seven oft-repeated verses (As-Sab`ul-Mathaanee) and the Great Qur'aan (i.e. Surah al-Faatihah)." [Al-Bukhaaree]

virtue of knowing the Qur'aan

Narrated Jabir ibn `Abdullaah: The Prophet (Sallallaahu`alayhi was-sallam) collected every two martyrs of Uhud in one piece of cloth, then he would ask, "Which of them had (knew) more of the Qur'aan?  When one of them was pointed out for him, he would put that one first in the grave and say, "I will be a witness on these on the Day of Resurrection." He ordered them to be buried with their blood on their bodies and they were neither washed nor was a funeral prayer offered for them. [Al-Bukhaaree]

zumar 17

And We have indeed made the Qur'aan easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (Al-Qamar 54:17)
