1 Qur'aan Recitation by Shaykh Al-Husary

Below you will find a brief biography as well as two complete sets of Qur'aan recitation from Shaykh Husary. The first set is his recitation in a slow manner (المرتل) and the second set is his teaching recitation (المعلم). May Allaah have mercy on Shaykh Husary, reward him with Jannatul-Firdous and allow us to benefit from the knowledge he left for us, Aameen!

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY of Shaykh Al-Husary (taken from abouttajweed.com)

The honorable Shaykh Mahmood Khaleel Al-Husary was born in the year 1335 Hijara, corresponding to 17 September, 1917, in the village of Shubra An-Naml , in the Tantaa area of the Western region of Egypt .

He memorized the Qur’aan when he was eight years of age, and studied in Al-Azhar. The (sic) then freed himself to study the Qur’aan sciences, with his beautiful voice and excellent skill. He took first in the radio exam in 1374 h (1944), and was a reciter at the Ahmedee mosque. He then went to Cairo and was at the Husaynee mosque from the year 1375 h (1955). He was selected as the inspector for the Egyptian reciters, then deputy of them, until he became the head shaykh of the reciters in Egypt in 1381 h (1961). He was of the first to make an audio recording in tajweed of the Qur’aan in the way of Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim, 1381 h, and his voice remained the sole voice on the Qur’aan radio of Egypt for around ten years. He later made a recording of his recitation in the way of Warsh ‘an Naafi’ 1384 h, and then Qaaloon, and Ad-Dooree, 1388 h (1968), and in this same year made a mu’allim recording of the Qur’aan, and was also selected as chairman of the Islaamic world reciters union.

He traveled and visited many Islaamic countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, and many became Muslim through him, by Allaah’s Will.

He called for the establishment of Glorious Qur’aan libraries in all cities and villages.

He willed one-third of his wealth to serve the Glorious Qur’aan and its memorizers and spending in all kinds of charity.

He died, may Allaah be merciful to him and make him of the inhabitants of Paradise, on Monday evening, the 16th of Muharram 1401 h, (24 Nov. 1980).

He wrote more than ten books on the sciences of the Glorious Qur’aan. Some of them are:
