Curriculum

  • Duration of Program: 2 years
  • Trimesters: 6 trimesters (3 trimesters per year) – There are 12 weeks per trimester; 3 subjects each week; 1 hour 15 minute sessions.
  • Method:
    1. Interacting and understanding Arabic you already know from the Qur’aan, salaah, dhikr and du`aa
    2. New concepts in the Arabic language and learning about issues relating to everyday life
    3. Setting a strong foundation for the Arabic grammar

    2. Salaah
    3. Arabic Grammar
  • Aim of Program: Learn Arabic to get closer to Allaah. This is the central theme of each of the three subjects studied.


What you should achieve at the end of each trimester inshaa'Allaah

YEAR 1 - TRIMESTER 1

  • Qur’aan:
    1. Meaning of words and basic tafseer of: Sooratul-Faatihah, Al-Feel to An-Naas, and Aayatul-Kursiyy
    2. Some virtues of the Qur’aan found in the ahaadeeth (in Arabic which students are encouraged to memorize)
  • Salaah: Breakdown of the salaah into two parts:
    1. In Pursuit of Khushoo` - Ahadeeth, adhkaar and elements before the salaah that should help with khushoo`; the difference between establishing and performing salaah
    2. The Physical Salaah - Its definition and a basic understanding of the different aspects of salaah. This will be studied in Arabic with a breakdown of the words for each of the following: the 9 shuroot (conditions), the 14 arkaan (pillars), the 8 obligatory elements (waajibaat) and the 38 recommended acts (sunnan) of salaah. What is recited in salaah: Al-Faatihah and the adhkaar for each position with a breakdown of the Arabic words of one dhikr for each of the following: Du`aa al-Istiftaah, rukoo`, after rukoo’, sujood, between the two sujood, all the basic requirements for tashahhud

    1. Madeenah Books: Book 1, Lessons 1-12
    2. Al-`Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk (العربية بين يديك): First 6 units and practice with conversations

YEAR 1 - TRIMESTER 2

  • General Issues: Some general subjects covered in each class include the following:
    1. A brief discussion of one or other related Name of Allaah for each of the 30 session.   • Qur’aan: Meaning of words, virtues and basic tafseer of the suwar: Ad-Duhaa to Al-Humazah
  • Salaah:
    1. Additional adhkaar relating to salaah and adhkaar after the salaah
    2. Explanation of the conditions for the salaah: niyyah, tahaarah (basic information - water, vessels, istinjaa and istijmaar), as-siwaak, wudoo’, ghusl and tayammum, izaalatun-najaasaat etc.
    3. Other aspects to help in striving to develop khushoo`
  • Arabic Grammar:
    1. Madeenah Books: Book 1, Lesson 13 to end of book
    2. Al-`Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk (العربية بين يديك): Units 7 – 11
    3. Plurals, masculine and feminine, feminine pronouns (plural), past tense of the verb, completion of the plural feminine forms for the present tense, the plural for the demonstrative pronouns, duals (nouns), revision of numbers 1-10, mamnoo` min as-sarf and its i`raab, the verb كان (Kaana), the singular masculine command form (verbs), numbers 20, 30, 40, etc., colors.

  • General Issues: Continuing with general subjects to be covered in each class:

What should be achieved after these two years inshaa'Allaah

  1. The most important concern that we have for our students is that they get closer to Allaah, so our entire program is geared to deal with the issues from a spiritual perspective inshaa’Allaah. Thus, if the students’ eemaan is enhanced we would have achieved our major objective
  2. Qur’aan: The last half of the 30th Juz’ and the First Juz’ of the Qur’aan with some basic tafseer
  3. A basic understanding of the Beautiful Names of Allaah, the Almighty
  4. The general rulings pertaining to the 5 pillars of Islaam
  5. Understanding the general issues pertaining to` Aqeedah and details concerning the 6 pillars of Eemaan
  6. The majority of the adhkaar found in Hisnul-Muslim
  7. The “Rabbanaa’s” found in the Qur’aan and other ad`iyah established from the Sunnah.
  8. Grammar: Al-Ajroomiyyah (Arabic Grammar); General grammar issues taken from Books 1-3 of the Madeenah Books; Book 1 of Al-Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk (Issues relating to daily living)
