2. Is there anything I need to do before embarking on Hajj?
Before embarking on this sacred journey it is very important that you prepare adequately for the act of `ibaadah you are about to perform. Some of the things you should strive to do are: purify your intention, make sincere tawbah and attempt to make amends with those you have wronged and become familiar with the rites of `Umrah and Hajj. To assist with you with properly preparing for your `Umrah ahd Hajj, we recommend that you read the following articles carefully as they are filled with golden advice from the scholars of our time - those who are the inheritors of the Prophets.
3. How long does it take to perform `Umrah and Hajj?
Generally, `Umrah can be performed in a few hours while completing the rites of Hajj normally takes 5 to 6 days.

7. Issues related to the Days/Rituals of Hajj
- Is it allowed to stone Jamarah before Dhuhr time?
- Must the pebbles hit the pillar when stoning at the Jamaraat?
- At the Jamaraat, is it permissible to pick up stones which may have already been thrown if some of mine did not land in the designated area?
- What happens if all 7 pebbles are thrown at once?
- If one is still on Arafah and the time for Ishaa’ is about to expire what should he do – pray there or wait to arrive at Muzdalifah?
- I am unable to complete the rites of Hajj must I repeat the Hajj?
8. General Hajj-related Issues
- Must I memorize the supplications or may I read them from a book/paper?
- Are there recommended du’aa to say at different times when performing hajj/`Umrah?
- Do acts of disobedience diminish the reward of the Hajj?
- Collect a few extra pebbles for stoning at the Jamaraat.
- Do not wait to perform wudhoo just before salaah – the lines will be very long.
- Always have drinking water as you may become dehydrated.
- Use your time wisely – do dhikr, du’aa, recite Qur’aan etc.
- Wear comfortable, ‘broken-in’ footwear.
- Be very careful to stay within the specific boundaries during the days of Hajj, especially `Arafah - overstepping them may affect the correctness of your Hajj.
- Rest the night of Muzdalifah because following day will be busy.
- Observe landmarks when going out so you can find your way back.
- Don’t go out alone on the days of Hajj as it is very easy to get lost.

In seasons such as Hajj and Ramadhaan, without doubt it is better for her to stay and pray in her hotel room.
